Structures and Mechanisms

The Grade 1's have been learning about structures over the past few weeks.  They have investigated a variety of material and determined what is human made and what comes from nature.  As a final task, students were challenged to build a structure from everyday materials.
This student created a chair out of cardboard.      These students are building a house out of sticks.

The Grade 2's are exploring simple machines and how they make work easier.  The students below had the opportunity to try a variety of tools.

The Grade 2's used their knowledge of simple machines to design a mechanism that would be beneficial to people.
